Building your own logo wall fountain

Building your own logo wall fountain

Wall fountains are one of the safest ways to introduce the alleviating power of water to your garden or office space. The sound of a wall fountain in your backyard would help you soothe your mind and transform your whole surrounding into a calming oasis. Building wall fountains would enhance the serenity of your garden and surroundings. Furthermore, you will be the envy of your friends and neighbors because you got to make one for yourself.

Building logo wall fountains on your own is not as intimidating and difficult as you think. When you get all the components and tools that are available in your nearest home improvement store or garden center, you could easily create a wall fountain in one weekend.

There are plug-in fountains available that are simply screwed into position, filled with water and switched on. These are usually made from stone-effect plastic or fiberglass and are quite convincing.

You can also construct a more elaborate feature using a mask fountain that spurts water into a decorative basin beneath. The water is circulated between the two using a pump.

  1. Find a perfect place in your garden or office space where you want to place the fountain, preferable against a fence. You will need to attach your wall fountain to the fence post. If your fence is a stucco or brick, dig a hole on each side approximately 6 to 8 inches deep, and then place a 2" x 4" lumber about 6 feet high and 2 1/2 feet apart into each hole.
  2. Measure and cut your cement backboard to 5’ x 3’. Use a 2”x4” wood frame or fence post and attach the backboards.
  3. Use a hand trowel to apply the mortar on the surface of the cement backboard.
  4. Place glass tiles on top of mortar. Install the tiles in any way that you want. You could choose varying colors of blue and greens to mimic the color of the sea.
  5. Use a float to apply grout on the surface of the tiles.
  6. Wipe away the excess grout using a wet sponge. Doing so will give your water wall a clean finish.
  7. It’s now time to assemble your water reservoir basin. Make sure that the size is as big or even an inch wider than the cement backboard.
  8. With the same depth as your reservoir basin, dig a hole in the ground. This hole should be as close to the bottom of the wall.
  9. Put the reservoir basin inside the hole.
  10. Put the pump inside the reservoir basin.
  11. Hook the riser tube along with the release head into the recirculating pump. The riser tube should be right behind the wall. Make sure that the release head is an inch higher than the wall. Pre-assembled riser tube and release head are already available from stores specializing in fountains. You can also give them specifications so that they can assemble one that would work for your measurement.
  12. Put gravel inside the reservoir, make sure that there’s enough to hold the recirculating pump in place.
  13. Cut half a bamboo at least 3 feet wide. Pierce some holes on the bamboo after cutting so that the water can come out.
  14. Place the bamboo on the top of the wall to cover the release heads. Secure it in place by screwing each end against the fence post or the wood pole. Align the bamboo against the wall. Ensure that the holes are facing down against the tiles.
  15. Plug in the pump and turn it on after filling the reservoir basin with water. The water should start flowing down the wall fountain. As needed, make the necessary adjustments on the gadgets and bamboo.
